Annika Westgård

Annika Westgård is a harding fiddle player and folk singer from Kragerø (Telemark).

It is especially the Telemark tradition she has immersed herself in, but she also plays tunes from other parts of the country and she has a great love for Swedish folk music. She therefore has a large repertoire consisting of Swedish folk tunes and shows. Annika also composes her own tunes.

Annika has a long music education behind her. First she went to the music department in Valle and in Skien. Then it became a
years at Fana Folkehøgskole where she studied music with a specialization in Norwegian and international folk music. After
this took her to Hedmark University College where she first took a bachelor's degree in music, and then took a master's degree in music pedagogy. In the end, it was a year of PPU practical pedagogical education with music, and she ended up as an associate professor of music.

Through her studies, Annika has acquired a very versatile music background. In addition to playing the hard fiddle and singing at a performing level, she is also a music educator. She has a lot of experience as a children's choir conductor, and has led many baby singing and music groups in kindergartens.

Annika currently works at Kragerø Cultural School (where she teaches vocals / singing, fiddle and harding fiddle + music groups in kindergartens), and as a music teacher at Kragerøskjærgården Montessori School. In addition to this, she works as a freelancer and takes on various playing assignments in the local community and the surrounding area, both as a solo player / singer, but also with other musicians
