Welcome to an exciting duo concert with Frode Haltli & Erlend Apneseth, at Backes Bu.
Frode Haltli (b. 1975) and Erlend Apneseth (b. 1990) both work in the tension between tradition and innovation, between the lyrical and the wild whim. The duo springs from collaboration they have had in each other's groups: Erlend as a permanent member of Frode Haltli's 'Avant Folk', a fiddler team out of the ordinary, and who came with their follow-up album 'Avant Folk II' in March 2021 at Hubro. Frode has also been a guest with the Erlend Apneseth Trio on the album 'Salika, Molika', which won the Spellemann Prize 2019 in open class. In the spring of 2021, they will make a commissioned work for Dei nynorske festspela together with the author Sigmund Løvåsen.
Frode Haltli (b. 1975) has performed with the same obviousness at contemporary festivals in Warsaw, Witten and Huddersfield as at international chamber music, jazz and folk music festivals. The debut album 'Looking on Darkness' (ECM 2002) received the Spelemann Award in the contemporary music category.
Erlend Apneseth (b. 1990) is a private Norwegian musician and composer from Jølster in Sogn og Fjordane. He plays the hard fiddle. In addition to folk music, he has immersed himself in improvisation and alternative sound and pizza cat techniques, and has done a number of collaborative projects with musicians, theater, orchestra, dancers and poets.
