Norwegian folk music was never the same after Gåte entered the scene.
But Norwegian has always been the cornerstone of the band Gåte. Siblings Gunnhild and Sveinung Sundli were traded from a young age, and they grew up with a folk music environment that cultivated the most authentic expression possible. In Gåte, however, the music was fiercely rearranged, and in the face of a new age's technique and possibilities, a magnificent and unique soundscape was created. Particularly important was the very untraditional guitarist Magnus Børmark, who also contributed greatly to Gåte's intense and theatrical stage show.
"After almost half a thousand concerts where we have tried to make everything as big as possible, we will now try to drag everything down as much as possible..." The foundation in the songs and Gåte's arrangements were surprisingly easily repositioned in a more woven soundscape. With Gunnhild's beautiful voice as the supporting element, Magnus and Sveinung only use pedal organ, guitars and fiddle, but still leave a clear Gåte touch to the music. It still won't be authentic, but the magical atmosphere is mostly closer than grand.
The close interpretation of Gåte's music fits the Farsund Folk Festival perfectly and we look forward to meeting them in Eilert Sundhallen on Saturday 29 August.
Ang concerts in Eilert Sundthallen
Entrance in the lock to the sports hall in Inger Sundts gate, on the upper side of the Aula. There will be table service inside the hall, plenty of space between the tables and disinfection available. As an audience, you must have good hand hygiene and keep your distance. Everyone must sit on the same chair and not change tables during the performance. Payment only with tips and cards. Preferably come on foot, or park at Amfi, Nytorvet, or Verven. We will do our best to inform about any detours in Storgata.
Be patient, show consideration and take care of each other by keeping a distance of 1 meter and by staying home if you have symptoms or proven covid 9. It is your responsibility!
