We are proud to invite all children and young people to a day filled with music, dance and fun! It takes place in the middle of the festival, Saturday 31 August at Farsund Folk Festival 2024. Through Farsund Folk Kidz, we offer an exciting concert and course offer that will inspire and engage. Folk dance and folk music are naturally at the center!

All Farsund Folk Kidz events are free for children. For those who want to be with us all day and stay overnight until Sunday, there will be shared accommodation in classrooms at Eilert Sundt VGS. For those staying overnight, there is a registration fee of NOK 100 per child.

The target group is 1st - 10th grade, and we have room for 30 participants for the full-day programme. Registration deadline 15 August!

NOTE: The children's concert and folk music in Vesterled is open to everyone, regardless of whether you have signed up for Farsund Folk Kidz.

Program for the day:

  • Morning session at Backes Bu:
    • Family concert: "Dance my doll, springe my horse" Start the day with a wonderful family concert that pleases both young and old!
    • Crash course in folk dance: Join a fun and educational course where children, young people, parents and other interested parties can explore folk dance through play and activity. Course leader is Gard Nergaard, and musicians are Lisa Haugeland and Herman Gautefald (fiddles).
  • After lunch at Farsund cinema:
    • Concert: "Folk music in Vesterled" Experience a fantastic concert with a large children's and youth orchestra that has been put together especially for this occasion.
    • Popcorn Party: After the concert, we invite all participants to a social gathering with pizza and popcorn. A perfect opportunity to get to know each other better and have fun together!
  • Evening event in Eilert Sundthallen:
    • Performance at the "North Sea Concert": Finally, the participants get to show off what they have learned during the day, together with professional musicians from Norway and Great Britain. This will be part of the festival's main programme!

For those staying overnight:

  • Sunday meeting: Everyone who stays overnight is invited to a cozy Sunday get-together where we rehearse the dances and round off the weekend in a pleasant way.
