Vegar Vårdal is a well-known and beloved musician in the Farsund Folk Festival context, and has played at almost all of our festivals. He is currently working on a new record with local folk music, and is coming to Farsund to play and talk about "Slåtter fra Åseral"! This concert will be completely acoustic and intimate, and you'll get to experience the fireworks of Vegar Vårdal alone with his fiddles, while at the same time you'll get to enjoy delicious local food from Torvets! Agder county council supports this concert, so that we can give you both food and music at a very nice price!

Vegar Vårdal is one of our most renowned folk musicians. He became familiar with folk music from Åseral as a child, when his father Dag Vårdal began collecting in the area. He later took a master's degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music on age-old features in the folk music tradition from Rogaland and Agder, and has been linked to folk music work in Agder and Setesdal for several years.

The album was recorded at Nesbyen in August, in the middle of the extreme weather Hans. While the rain poured down outside, road connections were closed and Nesbyen was submerged, Vegar sat together with producer Leiv Solberg in Tor Magne Hallibakken's studio. Safe, dry and isolated, he recorded the beats from Åseral.
