Postcards from Scotland

Postcards from Scotland is a digital performance with Scottish aristocrats, produced by Showcase Scotland and an international jury in which Farsund Folk Festival has participated. Since the closure of Norway and the rest of the world, artists around the world have lost a large part of their source of income. Scottish artists are very popular festival musicians around the world, and musicians from Scotland have always been an important part of our festival. Scottish authorities and organizers have worked hard during this time to find alternative sources of income, but also alternative ways to communicate their music. The worst thing that can happen to music is that we forget it. Therefore, they have worked with various digital events to bring Scottish music to the rest of the world. The producers from Showcase Scotland therefore offer as the only festival in Norway, Farsund Folk Festival a digital performance called: Postcards from Scotland. This performance is offered exclusively to 18 festivals in the world. The performance is a mixture of live concert prelude and videos. The repertoire is selected as follows. Showcase Scotland searched for artists who wanted to participate and received over 90 applicants. Then they sorted this list down to 60 artists who were presented to the jury. The jury consisted of the festival leaders of the selected 18 festivals, who were to halve the list to 30 aristocrats. After this round, a panel of 8 people from the festivals selected the 18 artists presented in this performance. Ann Helen Erichsen participated on behalf of the Farsund Folk Festival in the international jury. Some of the artists presented have been to Farsund before and will be known to our audience, and some are booked for next year's festival. Brand new artists are also presented. The jury agrees that the selection is a good representation of the Scottish music scene today, the artists maintain high international quality and we promise a varied performance. As the only of the 18 festivals, Postcards from Scotland will be shown in a festival that is carried out physically. We are proud of. We will create a pleasant atmosphere with dining and will also make this performance available through our Facebook page. It has been exciting to be part of the international jury, and as the only Norwegian festival to be offered this performance. It shows that Farsund Folk Festival is an important arena for international folk music today, and we are proud of that!
